We support the fight against COVID-19

The VECTOR Group funds the purchase of a ventilator for Szpitale Pomorskie (Pomeranian Hospitals) and supports the fight against COVID-19

The current situation and the needs of the healthcare system related to the pandemic are still growing. Therefore, we have decided to allocate funds that will cover the cost of purchasing a new ventilator. Within the next few weeks, the device will arrive at the Szpitale Pomorskie company, which manages the following facilities:

  • Szpital Morski im. PCK w Gdyni (the Polish Red Cross Marine Hospital in Gdynia)
  • Szpital Specjalistyczny F. Ceynowy w Wejherowie (F. Ceynowa Specialist Hospital in Wejherowo)
  • Szpital Św. Wincentego A Paulo w Gdyni (Saint Vincent de Paul Hospital in Gdynia)
  • Pomorskie Centrum Chorób Zakaźnych i Gruźlicy w Gdańsku (Pomeranian Centre for Infectious Diseases and Tuberculosis in Gdansk)

“The whole world is now facing a huge challenge, which is the coronavirus pandemic. Solidarity and active operations within the meaning of social responsibility are becoming more important than ever. The crisis most affects hospitals, which despite the heroic attitude of the staff, often struggle with a lack of medical equipment. Therefore, we decided to support Szpitale Pomorskie and transfer funds for the purchase of a ventilator. As a result, doctors and nurses will be able to help more patients in need”, says Małgorzata Mierzejewska-Kajut, Vice President of the Management Board of the VECTOR Group.

“We are constantly ready to admit patients who are suspected of being infected or who are infected with the coronavirus. A few weeks ago, when we asked for support in the purchase of personal protective equipment and medical equipment, the response was immediate. We are thankful for the contribution to support Szpitale Pomorskie in the purchase of the necessary equipment because it’s very much needed at the moment”, says Andrzej Zieleniewski, Vice President of the Management Board of the Szpitale Pomorskie company.

The VECTOR group hopes that the new medical equipment will help hospitals reduce the effects of the pandemic.

“At the same time, on behalf of our entire company, I would like to express my appreciation to the people most involved in caring for our health and safety. I would like to thank all of those who are every day on the front line in the fight against the coronavirus!”, emphasizes M. Mierzejewska-Kajut.

About BE ABLE TO HELP

BE ABLE TO HELP is an initiative of the VECTOR GROUP, proving that each of us can help. All of our activities are aimed at supporting the local community and promoting good practices to protect the environment around us.

Since 2018, with our employees, we have been supporting children from Educational Child Care Centres in Gdynia. How? Quite often, such places have trouble with small renovation or furnishing budget. Together with the caretakers of the Educational Centre, we gathered a list of the most needed pieces of furniture, as well as the places that need refurbishing.
